The Beginning of Midlife

I have been married for close to 21 years to the most wonderful man.  We raised our son in Reno, NV and after 17 years in the same home have found ourselves plucked out of Reno and landing in Los Angeles.  Believe me, if you told me two years ago I would be living in LA I would have told them they were nuts.

But, here we are.  How did we get here?  Well, JR got an opportunity to move down here for a contract job in March of 2008.  Now, throughout the years, we have had many times when JR has had to work outside of the Reno area so it was nothing new to us.  As the months progressed, our son graduated from high school and moved out of the house.  I became more depressed at my isolation (we lived on a 65 acre ranch north of Reno) even though I was working full time.  JR and I have always had a wonderful marriage, very compatible, loving and respectful.  Having him gone was like a hole in my world.  We would travel back and forth on weekends but that gets expensive and a big drag.

So, in August of 2008, we decided it was time to move me down to LA and leave Reno behind.  After several months of purging 20+ years worth of stuff, we moved me down in November of 2008.

Now, at age 48 and no children at home the next chapter in our life has begun . . .
